Guayaki Yerba Mate Apple Cider

Fall is finally here! Since as long as I can remember this abundantly beautiful season has been my favorite time of year. It is an absolutely nostalgic time filled with magic and warmth. If I had to pick a list of my top favorite things of the season it would start with the vibrant changing trees, Halloween, pumpkin everything of course, and one of my all time favorite things... APPLE CIDER! Apple Cider takes me to Rocky Creek Farm in Bozeman, MT where we would get fresh pressed apple cider. This year I decided I wanted to try making my own apple cider at home, but of course you know I couldn't do it without adding a little twist with the help of my love Guayaki Yerba Mate! So here is my take on this seasonal tradition perfect for coming to life and taking in those great antioxidants and nutrients from both the apples + Yerba Mate.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 Gallon Filtered Water

  • 5 Organic Apples

  • 4 Yerba Mate Bags or 1/4 cup loose leaf mate

  • 3 Cinnamon Sticks

  • 6 Whole Cloves

  • 6 Cardamom Pods

  • 1 tsp Nutmeg

*For this recipe I used a small 2 quart crock pot. Adjust recipe as needed for larger amounts. Makes Approx. 1/2 Gallon

DIRECTIONS:

1. Wash + cut your apples into slices. 

2. Fill your Crock Pot with apples, yerba mate, spices + water.

3. Turn on low + let simmer for 6-8 hours. 

4. Once finished, let cool + strain using cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer. 

Serve both hot or cold. Keep refrigerated for up to one week.
