Yerba Maté Cacao Truffles With Guayaki

When February rolls around, chocolate is instantly on my mind (guilty pleasure). However, most of the chocolate you will see lined up in your local grocery stores all month long, or really anytime of the year, may not be in your best interest health wise. We just made it through the Holiday season, but the unhealthy food habits just keep trying to find their ways to us- and if you are like me and still want to enjoy filling that sweet tooth, we need some yummy alternatives. This year I wanted to create an easy dessert recipe that could satisfy all of your chocolate-y cravings, but wouldn’t feel like a set-back in your body. This DIY will leave your mind, body, + soul feeling elevated with the power of cacao + Yerba Maté.

  • 2 Droppers Full of Yerba Maté Tincture (You can use an alternative of 1/4 Cup Brewed Yerba Maté if you didn’t whip up a tincture, but will not be as potent.)

  • 1 Cup Raw Cacao

  • 1/4 Cup Raw Honey

  • 1/2 TSP Cinnamon

  • 1/2 Cup Vegan Butter

  • 1/8 TSP of Sea Salt

  • Dried Organic Rose Petals

  1. Gather all ingredients, and start by making sure you have your Yerba Maté tincture of brewed amount on hand. Then begin by melting the vegan butter- I used the double boiler method on the stove. Heat until butter is fully melted.

  2. In a separate mixing bowl, combine your Maté, cacao, honey, melted butter, cinnamon and salt. Stir until evenly smooth.

  3. Place bowl into the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set.

  4. Using a “melon baller”, scoop the mixture into small balls. Once finished, take each cacao ball and roll in your choice of toppings. I rolled mine in a mixture of dried rose petals, cacao, and powdered sugar.

  5. Package them up to give as a gift for your loved ones or just keep it for yourself in the name of self-care! Keep in the refrigerator for up to one week.
