Winter Adventure with Guayaki & Four Sigmatic

Winter can be a tough time for us all both emotionally + physically. Our immune systems are compromised easily, stabilizing energy levels can be a serious battle, and on top of it all humans are much more physically stagnant during the cold months. That is why I feel it is so important to take extra care of ourselves during these times, and that includes doing something a lot of us aren’t a huge fan of doing when it is cold outside- actually GETTING OUTSIDE! One of the best ways to get in touch (and make a little more bearable) with the seasons is by indulging in them via their raw state out in the elements. One of my personal favorite ways of getting outdoors in the Winter is by visiting one of my favorite places, and I was craving a mini-getaway to recharge. So we decided to grab a couple of our friends and hit the road to Yellowstone National Park with the help of Guayaki + Four Sigmatic to keep us energized and healthy for the perfect end of January adventure. Maybe you’ll be inspired to do the same.


COME TO LIFE YERBA MATÉ + ‘SHROOM MUFFINS 

with a honey mint drizzle

Getting up early for a road trip is not an easy feat in the Winter. The sun has barely come up, it’s 8 degrees, and no matter how much sleep you got it never seems like enough. Early rising with a destination in mind also doesn’t make it very easy to stop and have time for a big breakfast. I wanted to make sure we were awake for the drive and fueled to take on our day. I made these super energizing + immune boosting muffins the day before making our beginning morning trek a breeze.

INGREDIENTS/SUPPLIES:

  • 1 Cup Brewed Guayaki Yerba Maté

  • Two Packets of Four Sigmatic Chaga Mushroom Elixir

  • 1 Cup Flour of Choice

  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder

  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda

  • Pinch of Salt

  • 1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon

  • 1/8 Cup Local Honey

  • 1 Medium Banana

  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric

  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

  • 3 Tablespoons Nut Butter

  • 1/2 Cup Plant-Based Milk

Honey Mint Drizzle:

  • 1/4 Cup Local Honey

  • 1 teaspoon Mint Extract or Fresh Mint Sprigs

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Brew 1 cup of Guayaki Yerba Maté + let cool. Preheat oven to 350° F.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine dry ingredients.

  3. Stir in liquids, nut butter, +  one mashed banana.

  4. Once evenly mixed, put even spoonfuls of mix into a muffin pan.

  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

  6. In a small bowl, combine honey + mint. If using fresh mint, chop up finely or pulverize in a mortar + pestle.

  7. Using a spoon, once muffins are cooled drizzle honey/mint mixture lightly onto each muffin. Pack in a large tupperware for an easy on the go breakfast packed with energy + immune boosting support.


Winter Recovery Yerba Maté + ‘Shroom Hot Cacao

After a day adventuring (and a lot of driving), we needed a good pick me up to recover after our fun in the snow. What better way to do that than with a warm seasonal favorite spiced up with cordyceps + yerba maté. Our bodies will be thanking us later.

We pulled off in Paradise Valley outside of Yellowstone to whip up these tasty drinks + enjoy the sunset.

INGREDIENTS/SUPPLIES:

  • Guayaki Yerba Maté Loose Leaf or Tea Bags (1 maté bag or 1.5 teaspoons loose leaf/1 cup water)

  • Four Sigmatic Mushroom Hot Cacao Mix (1 packet/person)

  • One Cup Plant Based Milk of Choice

  • 4 Cups Water

*Adjust ingredients to fit your preference + quantity. This recipe is perfect anywhere, anytime.


DIRECTIONS:

  1. Heat up water + brew yerba mate in a french press or preferred straining method of choice. You can do this out on the go many ways (over a fire, jetboil, ect.) , or you can do what I did and pre-brew at home and bring in a thermos to keep warm. I also mixed in my honey + cinnamon into the yerba prior to make it all ready to go.

  2. Pour maté into mugs and add one Mushroom Hot Cacao Mix packet to each mug. Stir until powder is dissolved.

  3. Add in plant based milk and local honey or sweetener of choice if desired if you haven’t already.

  4. Sprinkle extra cinnamon on top if you have any on hand. Get your ‘shroom on + come to life!
